The Job Seeker Report is based on the results of an online survey conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of Express Employment Professionals. This biannual report tracks the latest job market trends across a wide range of industries. Check out some of the key insights and download the full Spring 2026 report below!

AI is a powerful companion in the job search, but as its use grows so do concerns about its impact on opportunities:

  • 78% fear companies won’t need to hire as much because of AI.
  • 75% of employed job seekers whose company uses AI worry that by doing so it could reduce their company’s workforce.
  • 41% feel AI is more efficient for completing entry-level tasks than hiring/training candidates.

AI is speeding up the way job seekers learn and grow, driving a surge in self-directed skill-building:

  • 66% of job seekers believe learning job skills using AI is appropriate.
  • 52% believe self-taught skills acquired through informal online platforms are credible.
  • 31% have taught themselves skills through informal online platforms that they include in their resume.

AI may be on the rise, but according to job seekers, there are certain human-touch elements that are absolutely essential/very important in the workplace:

  • 74% managing crisis situations or emergencies within the company.
  • 70% handling employee disputes or grievances.
  • 69% conducting performance reviews and providing feedback.
  • 68% leading ethical practice and compliance decision-making.
