The 5 Hottest Fields Hiring
the Most Non-college Graduates

Express Employment Professionals Study Shows Where the Jobs Are

Industry and Office Services are the Best Bets

OKLAHOMA CITY, Sept. 4, 2013 — In the seventh of a series of releases titled “America Employed,” Express Employment Professionals, the nation’s largest privately held staffing firm, released findings today that reveal the hottest fields for workers without college degrees.

The news comes two days before the next unemployment numbers are to be released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In a survey of 264 Express franchises across the nation, industrial work tops the list of fields hiring non-college graduates. Office services, sales and marketing, health care, and home help round out the top five.

“Step one in getting hired is to look at what’s hot, not cold.” said Bob Funk, CEO of Express Employment Professionals and a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. “Our survey shows which fields are hot — and that’s where to start your job hunt.”

“The tough economy means job opportunities for non-college graduates may be limited, but some fields are hotter than others, and good jobs can be found there,” Funk said.

Respondents were asked to name the “five hottest fields hiring the most non-college graduates.” Ninety percent included industrial in their response; 84 percent said office services; 62 percent said sales and marketing; 42 percent said health care; and 37 percent said home help.

The full results were as follows.

1.   Industrial: 90%
2.   Office Services: 84%
3.   Sales, Marketing: 62%
4.   Health Care: 42%
5.   Home Help: 37%
6.   Engineering, Manufacturing: 32%
