Job Title: Press Operator Trainee
Salary: $16
Shift: Monday – Thursday, 5am – 3pm
Express Employment Professionals is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Press Operator Trainee to join our clients team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the printing industry. As a trainee, you will work closely with experienced press operators to learn the setup, operation, and maintenance of printing presses. No prior experience is required—just a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and an interest in a long-term career in print production.
Job Duties / Responsibilities:
· Verifies size, color, and type of paper and color of ink from job order.
· Cleans inking rollers with solvent and replaces them in press.
· Adjusts controls to regulate volume of ink.
· Packs impression cylinder with tissue or folio.
· Adjusts delivery tapes, and positions and locks form (type setup or plate) on bed or cylinder of press.
· Adjusts feed guides, grippers, and elevator, or hand-feeding press.
· Starts press and runs off proofsheet.
· Examines proof to determine off-level areas, variation in ink volume, register slippage, indications of offsetting, and color register.
· Adjusts press controls, inking fountains, and automatic feeders, and repacks cylinder with overlay to equalize off-level areas as required.
· Registers forms and mixes colors.
· Makes overlay for half-tone shades.
· Performs periodic maintenance of machine by cleaning, inspecting parts, oiling, greasing and minor repair.
· Gets supervisor approval before running job.
