Recycling Sorter / General Labor
💰 Pay: $15/hour
🕒 Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 4:30 PM (30-minute lunch)
📍 Location: Summerdale, AL
Job Overview
Express Employment Professionals is hiring Recycling Sorters / General Laborers for a full-time, long-term opportunity in Summerdale. This position works in a fast-paced recycling facility performing sorting, inspection, and general labor tasks to support daily operations.
This is a long-term position on Express Employment Professionals payroll — not a temporary assignment.
Responsibilities
✅ Sort and inspect recyclable materials including plastics, metals, paper, and glass
✅ Remove materials from a fast-moving conveyor belt
✅ Inspect incoming materials for quality and contamination
✅ Maintain a clean facility by sweeping, raking, and removing debris
✅ Safely operate equipment and machinery
✅ Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
✅ Assist team members with daily production goals
✅ Perform general labor duties as needed
Requirements
✅ Ability to stand for the entire shift and perform repetitive tasks
✅ Ability to lift, push, and pull materials (up to 100 lbs at times)
✅ Comfortable working around moving machinery and conveyor systems
✅ Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a steady pace
✅ Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
✅ Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed
Work Environment
✅ Fast-paced manufacturing/recycling environment
✅ Loud environment due to large machinery
✅ Exposure to dust, odors, heat, cold, and other outdoor/industrial conditions
✅ May require climbing stairs, working on catwalks, and working around elevated areas
✅ Steel-toe boots and required PPE are necessary (safety glasses, vest, hard hat, gloves, ear protection)
Water and Gatorade are provided onsite.
