Job Title: CAD/Drafting Technician
Location: Fairhope, AL
Pay: $25/hr
Schedule: Monday – Friday | Full-Time
Job Summary:
Express Employment Professionals is seeking a detail-oriented CAD/Drafting Technician. This role is responsible for creating precise shop drawings and technical plans for high-quality, custom woodwork projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of drafting principles and the ability to translate design concepts into accurate, build-ready drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
• Create detailed CAD drawings for custom millwork projects (cabinets, trim, fixtures, etc.)
• Interpret architectural plans, blueprints, and client specifications
• Collaborate with production and shop teams to ensure accuracy and feasibility
• Revise drawings based on feedback and project changes
• Prepare layouts, elevations, and material takeoffs
• Ensure all drawings meet company standards and project requirements
• Maintain organized project files and documentation
Qualifications & Skills:
• Experience with CAD software (Solidworks preferred)
• Strong understanding of millwork, cabinetry, or woodworking processes
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adjust designs as needed
Physical & Work Requirements:
• Primarily office-based with occasional shop interaction
• Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer
• May occasionally visit production areas and be exposed to shop conditions
Additional Requirements:
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
