Job Full Description
We have an opening for a MIG/TIG Welder position working at a contract manufacturing facility located in Decatur, AL. This is an evaluation-to-hire opportunity with potential for full-time placement.
Skills/Qualifications
Must be proficient in welding techniques.
Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routers and use simple math to perform basic calculations.
Must be able to perform wire and filler material applications for various steel alloys, aluminum and galvanized.
Working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
Must be able to perform visual inspection and dimensional inspection using basic measuring tools.
Must have a working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing.
Punctuality and dependability.
Duties/Responsibilities
Manually guide electrode or gun along a weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of metal and size of molten puddle.
Weld in flat, horizontal and vertical positions.
Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jigs or fixtures.
Chip off excess weld, slag and spatter.
Operate grinders and DA sanders to clean up/smooth welds.
Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to lead person.
Update computer records and paperwork for parts.
Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on welders as required.
Maintain work areas to keep them in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.
Perform job duties in an efficient and responsible manner.
