We have an opening for a Maintenance Technician position working at a flat-rolled coil processing facility located in Decatur, AL. This is an evaluation-to-hire opportunity with potential for full-time placement.
*** MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK EXTENDED SHIFTS AS NECESSARY INCLUDING WEEKENDS & HOLIDAYS, AND BE ON-CALL TO MAKE EMERGENCY REPAIRS ***
Skills/Qualifications
Previous industrial maintenance experience is preferred but not required.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude to the basic use of and measuring of instruments/precision tools, fasteners, piping/fittings & valves, cutting and welding, packing/sealing/gasket products, rotating shaft components and rigging.
Must have basic computer skills.
Must have a working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing.
Must be capable of arriving to work in time, and working an entire work week on a consistent basis.
Ability to problem solve and make decisions as needed.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to lift 40 lb. unassisted.
Duties/Responsibilities
Maintain optimum functionality of plant equipment and systems by performing inspections, completing predictive and preventive maintenance measures (including data entry), repairing and modifying equipment and systems.
Inspect buildings, grounds and equipment utilized by facility; determine immediate and long-range needs for maintenance and repair work.
Enter work orders utilizing maintenance computer program.
Operate safely within company policies, procedures, and governmental regulations and fully participate in company Safety programs (BBS, EHS Audits, Monthly Safety Inspections, etc.).
Complete all housekeeping assignments, work to improve the condition of all facility departments, and work as a team member with a positive attitude.
Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in all aspects of day-to-day maintenance of the plant.
