Job Full Description
We have an opening for a Welder position working at a sheet metal contractor facility located in Athens, AL. This is an evaluation-to-hire opportunity with potential for full-time placement.
Skills/Qualifications
A minimum of 1 year of welding experience in a workplace environment is REQUIRED.
Proficiency in various welding methods such as MIG or TIG.
Must be able to pass an on-site welding test.
Must furnish your own PPE (helmet, gloves, flame-resistant clothing).
Must have endurance for physically demanding tasks, including working in awkward positions and handling heavy materials over long periods.
Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Ability to lift 40 lb. unassisted.
Punctuality and dependability.
High school diploma.
Duties/Responsibilities
Use a variety of welding techniques to weld fabricated metal products while maintaining safe work habits.
Welders must know when to apply each technique based on project needs and materials.
Competence in setting up, operating, and maintaining welding tools, including power sources, torches, and wire feeders.
Precision in welding to ensure structural integrity and avoid defects like porosity or incomplete fusion.
In-depth knowledge of safety practices, including:
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like welding helmets, gloves, and flame-resistant clothing.
- Awareness of hazards such as arc flash, toxic fumes, and fire risks.
- Ensuring proper ventilation and safe handling of welding gases.
Other duties may be assigned.
