Job Title: Government Sales Contract Specialist
Location: Oakland, CA
Our client, a well-established rigging hardware supplier is seeking a Government Sales Contract Specialist to support and expand their government sales efforts. This role involves identifying bid opportunities, preparing competitive proposals, researching costs, and coordinating material purchases. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in government procurement processes and a strong understanding of compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and track government contract opportunities (local, state, federal) through online portals (e.g., SAM.gov, Cal eProcure, etc.)
- Analyze RFPs, RFQs, and IFBs to determine bid requirements and feasibility
- Prepare and submit complete and compliant bids and proposals on time
- Research and analyze material costs, vendor pricing, and subcontractor quotes
- Collaborate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and delivery timelines
- Purchase required materials and ensure compliance with contract terms
- Maintain accurate records of all bids, contracts, and transactions
- Work closely with internal teams (sales, legal, procurement, and operations) to ensure successful contract execution
- Monitor active contracts and ensure all obligations are fulfilled
- Maintain strong relationships with government buyers, procurement officers, and partners
- Stay current on government contracting rules, trends, and compliance regulations
Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of experience in government sales, bidding, or contract administration
- Strong understanding of public procurement processes and contract terminology
- Experience using government bidding portals (e.g., SAM.gov, GSA, Cal eProcure)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with proposal software or procurement platforms is a plus
- Ability to analyze costs, prepare pricing sheets, and negotiate with vendors
- Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills
