Generator Service Mechanic / Technician
Pay Rate: $24-$35
Job Summary
Seeking a skilled and dependable Generator Service Mechanic / Technician to install, diagnose, maintain, and repair residential and commercial standby generator systems. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a commitment to safety, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
1. Diagnose, Repair, and Maintain Generator Systems
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on standby generators.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, fuel, and control system issues.
- Complete warranty and non-warranty service work.
2. Install and Commission Equipment
- Assist with the installation and startup of residential and commercial generator systems.
- Verify proper system operation, programming, and code compliance.
- Conduct performance testing and customer walk-throughs following installation.
3. Deliver Exceptional Customer Service
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment condition and repair recommendations.
- Maintain accurate service records and inspection reports.
- Respond to emergency service calls as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience in small engine repair, diesel mechanics, electrical systems, generator maintenance, HVAC, automotive repair, or a related trade preferred.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Generator certification is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to travel to customer locations throughout the service area.
