Certified Flagger
Key Responsibilities:
- Certification: Must be certified and provide proof of certification

Establishing and maintaining safe work zones:
This involves setting up and maintaining traffic control devices like cones, signs, and barricades.

Directing traffic:
Flaggers use hand signals, paddles, or wands to guide vehicles and pedestrians around the work zone.

Communicating with the crew:
They may use two-way radios or hand signals to communicate with other flaggers or supervisors about traffic conditions and potential hazards.

Monitoring traffic flow:
Flaggers observe traffic for any hazardous behavior and make adjustments to traffic control measures as needed.

Inspecting and maintaining equipment:
They ensure traffic control devices are visible, upright, and compliant with regulations.

Responding to emergencies:
Flaggers may need to modify traffic patterns or direct traffic away from accidents or other emergencies.

Providing excellent customer service:
They should be able to communicate effectively with the public, providing information about detours and potential delays.
- Physical fitness: Flaggers need to be able to stand for extended periods
