Position Summary

The Machine Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of production and packaging equipment used in coffee manufacturing operations. This position helps ensure equipment reliability, production efficiency, product quality, and workplace safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on production, packaging, and processing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment issues.
  • Repair machinery to minimize production downtime.
  • Conduct routine inspections and identify potential equipment failures.
  • Replace worn or damaged machine components.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Follow all safety procedures and food manufacturing standards.
  • Work closely with production personnel to resolve equipment-related issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized maintenance work area.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training in industrial maintenance, manufacturing technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience maintaining production or manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in food, beverage, coffee, or packaging manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of conveyors, fillers, labeling equipment, packaging machinery, and motors.
  • Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Forklift certification preferred, but not necessary. 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
