Custodian
Location: Brookhaven, GA
Type: Contract
Pay: $16/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM, with rotating weekends
Position Summary
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety across building facilities and grounds. Duties include routine cleaning tasks such as mopping, sweeping, dusting, and scrubbing. The role may be performed independently or as part of a team, under general supervision.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, and wash floors and other interior surfaces
- Operate commercial cleaning equipment (e.g., floor buffers, shampoo machines)
- Vacuum rugs in offices and public areas; spot clean and shampoo as needed
- Clean and dust furniture, fixtures, and horizontal surfaces, including high dusting
- Wash windowsills, glass doors, partitions, and specified windows
- Clean bathrooms and restock supplies daily
- Monitor and report maintenance issues (e.g., clogged fixtures, lighting outages)
- Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables; replace liners as needed
- Clear snow from steps and walkways as directed
- Perform periodic tasks such as wall washing, polishing wood/leather surfaces
- Respond to inquiries and resolve complaints courteously and efficiently
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Follow standardized procedures and written instructions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of basic custodial procedures and janitorial equipment
- Skilled in operating floor buffing machines, carpet shampooers, and other cleaning tools
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or in a team setting
