Express is seeking to fill the role of Deputy Cheif Appraiser.
Essential Job Functions: Plans, coordinates, and supervises the work of subordinate appraisers and provides training in the appraisal of residential, rural, commercial, and industrial properties for ad valorem tax purposes. Responsible for performing all types of real property appraisals. Makes presentations to the Board of Tax Assessors, Board of Equalization, and Superior Court. Direction is from the Chief Appraiser. Perform the duties of the Chief Appraiser in his/her absence.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of real and personal property assessment, exemptions, conservation uses, and historic properties is required. Strong verbal and written skills are required.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience: A High School diploma is required. A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, or closely related field is preferable. Education to be supplemented by college level course work or technical training in property appraisal and property assessment; and/or training that includes real property appraisal, personal appraisal, or property assessment. Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the area of ad valorem taxation and/or real estate appraisal, with a minimum of two (2) years management/supervisory experience in property tax environment.
Required Certificates/Licenses: Valid Georgia Driver's License is required. Appraiser II or III designation is required and/or the ability to achieve Appraiser III certification from the Georgia Department of Revenue within two (2) years of hire is required. State appraiser license or certification is preferred.
Salary Range: From $45,000 to a maximum of $65,000 based on education, experience, and certifications/licenses.
