Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Recreation Program Support
- Assist the Parks/Recreation Director and Athletic Coordinator with the planning, scheduling, and administration of youth and adult athletic programs.
- Coordinate registration activities for leagues, camps, tournaments, clinics, and special events.
- Assist with recruiting, organizing, and communicating with volunteer coaches, officials, and participants.
- Help coordinate practice and game schedules.
- Prepare program rosters, schedules, reports, and related documentation.
- Monitor program activities to ensure compliance with department policies and safety procedures.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of recreational events and tournaments.
- Help maintain recreational facilities, equipment inventories, and supplies.
- Assist in promoting recreation programs through social media, the county website, flyers, and other public communications.
Office Administration
- Serve as the backup for all Parks & Recreation office functions.
- Answer telephones and assist visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Process registrations, reservations, and program fees.
- Receive and accurately process payments.
- Maintain participant records and databases.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, purchase requests, and other administrative documents.
- Assist with maintaining department calendars and facility reservations.
- Operate standard office equipment and recreation management software.
Customer Service
- Provide outstanding customer service to participants, parents, coaches, vendors, and the public.
- Respond to questions regarding programs, facilities, schedules, and policies.
- Resolve participant concerns or refer issues to the appropriate supervisor.
Facility & Event Support
- Assist with opening and closing facilities during programs and special events.
- Inspect recreation areas for cleanliness and safety concerns.
- Report maintenance needs to appropriate personnel.
- Assist with special county events and community activities sponsored by the Parks & Recreation Department.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of department records when appropriate.
- Follow all county policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Attend meetings and training as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Parks/Recreation Director, Athletic Coordinator, or Parks & Recreation Director.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in recreation, athletics, customer service, office administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with youth athletic programs is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of recreational programming and athletic league operations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with children, parents, coaches, volunteers, and the public.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other office software.
- Ability to learn recreation management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions.
- Ability to attend evening and weekend programs, athletic events, and tournaments as required.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Georgia Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- CPR and First Aid Certification preferred or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
