Job Full Description
A company in Bowdon is seeking a reliable Water Meter Reader to accurately read and record water meter data for residential and commercial customers. The position involves outdoor fieldwork, identifying meter irregularities, and reporting readings in a timely and accurate manner. Candidates should be detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work independently in various weather conditions.
Knowledge Required By The Position:
- Knowledge of city and department polices and procedures pertaining to the reading of water meters.
- Knowledge of the mechanical functions of water meters.
- Knowledge of the locations of city streets and meters.
- Skill in the use of various mete-reading equipment gauges, and hand tools.
- Skill in basic mathematics.
- Skill in operating a motor vehicle.
- Skill in dealing with the public.
Major Duties:
- Reads water meters; records reading in hand-held computer.
- Performs meter audits to detect the theft of utility services.
- Detects and reports damaged meters.
- Replaces or repairs damaged; raises meter boxes and installs meters.
- Checks water pressure at meters.
- Delivers trash cans.
- Assist with installing water taps.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Locates and repairs minor leaks.
Schedule: 1st shift, Mon-Fri (8am-5pm)
Pay: $17.00 / HR
