Outside Sales Representative – Construction
A well-established, equipment company is expanding its sales team in the Des Moines market. This outside sales role is focused on building long-term customer relationships, identifying equipment solutions, and supporting contractors and industrial customers across a defined territory. This is a field-based role with strong internal support and growth potential. First year total compensation typically around $120,000.
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain relationships with contractors, municipalities, and industrial clients
- Prospect new business while managing and growing existing accounts
- Take a consultative approach to understand jobsite needs and recommend equipment solutions
- Prepare quotes and support the sales process from initial conversation through close
- Partner with internal teams (service, parts, rentals) to ensure a smooth customer experience
- Track activity and opportunities using CRM tools
- Represent the company professionally at customer sites and in the field
What they’re looking for
- Outside sales experience; construction equipment, heavy equipment, or rental industry experience preferred
- Strong relationship-building and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a territory-based role
- Mechanical aptitude or familiarity with construction equipment is a plus
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally
