Deckhand - Port Allen
EVALUATION HIRE
$20 - 24/hr.
Day Shift 6 am – Till Finished
Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is currently hiring for a Deckhand to join their marine operations team in Port Allen. The ideal candidate will assist with vessel operations, maintenance, cargo handling, and general deck duties while ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES for Deckhand:
- Assist with docking, undocking, and line handling
- Perform routine vessel inspections and maintenance
- Operate and maintain deck equipment and tools
- Follow safety procedures and participate in safety drills
- Assist in loading and unloading materials
- Clean and maintain decks, equipment, and work areas
- Support the vessel captain and crew with daily operations
- Report hazards, damage, or irregularities promptly
- Operating Front-end loaders and other equipment to load and unload products from barges
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Prior deckhand or marine experience preferred (but not required)
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or overtime as needed
- Must be comfortable working on and around water and working on barges
