POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Temporary Moffett Driver to support our delivery operations during peak season. In this role, you will operate a truck-mounted Moffett forklift to deliver lumber, decking materials, dock hardware, and other building products to residential and commercial job sites. You will play a critical role in ensuring on-time, damage-free deliveries while representing the Decks and Docks brand with professionalism and courtesy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely operate a Class A or B commercial delivery truck with a truck-mounted Moffett (piggyback) forklift.
- Unload and place lumber, decking, dock materials, and related products at customer job sites using the Moffett.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required driver logs (paper or electronic).
- Navigate residential neighborhoods, construction sites, and marina/waterfront locations safely and efficiently.
- Communicate delivery status and any issues to dispatch and the yard manager in a timely manner.
- Verify delivery contents against invoices and obtain customer signatures upon completion.
- Secure and strap loads properly to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned truck and Moffett unit.
- Follow all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and applicable traffic laws.
- Assist yard staff with loading, organizing, and staging materials as needed between deliveries.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Valid CDL (Class A or B) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 1 year of verifiable Moffett / piggyback forklift operating experience.
- Ability to read and interpret delivery manifests, maps, and GPS navigation.
- Strong spatial awareness and the ability to maneuver in tight or confined spaces.
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check.
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred:
- Experience delivering to construction sites, docks, marinas, or waterfront properties.
- Familiarity with lumber, decking, or building materials.
- Electronic logging device (ELD) experience.
- OSHA forklift certification or equivalent safety training.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE
- Outdoor work environment; exposure to heat, cold, rain, and uneven terrain.
- Typical shift: Monday – Friday, with occasional Saturdays during peak season.
- Hours: Generally 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM; hours may vary based on delivery volume.
- Position is temporary with potential for extension based on business needs and performance.
