Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced HP Indigo Print Pressman to join a digital print production team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with industry-leading technology at a world-class printing facility, with the potential for direct hire based on performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up, operate, and maintain HP Indigo digital presses to produce high-quality printed materials including marketing collateral, labels, packaging, and commercial print products.
- Perform pre-press checks including color calibration, substrate loading, and job ticket review prior to production runs.
- Monitor print quality throughout production runs; make real-time adjustments to color, registration, and ink density to meet client specifications.
- Conduct routine press maintenance including cleaning, lubrication, and minor troubleshooting to ensure maximum uptime and print quality.
- Interpret and execute job specifications from work orders, ensuring all output meets quality standards and customer requirements.
- Operate color management software and RIP (Raster Image Processor) systems to prepare digital files for print.
- Inspect finished product for defects, color accuracy, and consistency; identify and document any non-conforming work.
- Maintain accurate production logs, waste tracking, and downtime records.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with prepress, finishing, and bindery departments to ensure smooth workflow and on-time delivery.
- Keep work area clean and organized in compliance with 5S/lean manufacturing standards.
- Communicate proactively with supervisors regarding press issues, scheduling delays, or quality concerns.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience operating HP Indigo digital presses (Series 5, 6, 7, 10000, or equivalent).
- Solid understanding of digital printing processes, color theory, and color management (ICC profiles, G7 certification a plus).
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, work orders, and technical specifications.
- Experience with substrate handling including coated stocks, uncoated papers, synthetics, and specialty media.
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, color management tools, and production workflow systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic press maintenance and troubleshoot common issues.
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to producing defect-free, press-ready output.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade school certification in printing or graphic arts preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- HP Indigo Certified Press Operator credential.
- Experience in a commercial print, label, or packaging environment.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
- Knowledge of variable data printing (VDP) workflows.
- Experience operating other digital or offset presses.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Manufacturing/production floor environment; exposure to ink, solvents, and press chemicals.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods (up to 10 hours per shift).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (paper reels, substrate pallets, supply containers).
- Must be able to distinguish colors accurately; color vision testing may be required.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required in designated areas.
- Shift work required — day, evening, and/or weekend shifts based on production schedule.
