Job Full Description

Position Overview

The Set Up Machine Operator is responsible for interpreting a 3-D blueprint and operating the Press Brake Machine to take a 2D part and properly form a product.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up manufacturing equipment for daily use and applying first part inspection.
  • Check parts and make corrections before running additional parts as part of our first part inspection process.
  • Maintaining equipment and machinery so they can operate safely.
  • Training and overseeing other employees on specialty machines.
  • Maintaining the understanding of operating procedures for their machines.
  • Proposing improvements to the process or machines as needed.
  • Reporting safety hazards within the work environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and use protractors to measure angles.
  • Exceptional ability to read blueprints that are complex in nature with respect to tight tolerances and vinyl placement so that proper bending and forming take place.
  • Ability to convert decimals to fractions and solid mathematical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail for set ups with respect to numbers and tool set ups.
  • Great communication when working with others on the job.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot potential issues.
  • Resourcefulness in learning new manuals and processes.
  • Outstanding attention to detail with the ability to understand mechanics and technical tasks.
  • Ability to identify issues or problems in operations or maintenance.
  • Physical stamina and strength and the ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Safety management mindset.
  • Focus on quality control.
  • Dexterity and hand-eye coordination, including the ability to grasp, manipulate, and assemble parts and components that are often very small.
  • Mechanical and technical skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and understand labels and written instructions.
  • Lifting requirements up to 50lbs single and 200 lb 2-person lifts, must be able to bend, twist and reach.

     

     

    Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:

    • High school diploma or GED
    • 3+ years of Machine Operator and Preventative Maintenance experience.
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints/CAD drawings.
    • Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Email.
    • Ability to work with pneumatic and battery powered tools.
    • Ability to work with and understand protractors, calipers, and other measuring tools.
