Our client we specializes in the production of high-precision aluminum cast components for demanding industries including aerospace, automotive, and agriculture. They are committed to quality, efficiency, and innovation in our casting operations. As automation becomes increasingly vital to our process, they are seeking a skilled Casting Automation Technician to join their growing team.
 
Role Overview:
The Casting Automation Technician will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of automated equipment used in our aluminum casting lines. This includes robotic pour systems, mold handling automation, trimming cells, and inspection systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring consistent part quality, equipment uptime, and process efficiency in a fast-paced, high-precision environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and monitor automated casting cells including robotic pouring, core setting, mold handling, and trimming systems.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on robotic and automated systems to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues related to automation systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to fine-tune automation parameters for optimal casting results.
  • Assist in the integration of new automation systems, including testing, setup, and commissioning.
  • Document performance data, maintenance activity, and improvement opportunities.
  • Train operators on safe and effective interaction with automation systems.
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a foundry or metal casting environment, preferably aluminum.
  • Familiarity with industrial robots (e.g., FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa) and automated process controls.
  • Understanding of tight-tolerance casting requirements and quality control principles.
  • Basic PLC troubleshooting skills (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and ability to read schematics.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a production floor environment.
  • Attention to detail, strong safety awareness, and a proactive mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical degree or certification in robotics, automation, mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience with high-pressure die casting or permanent mold processes.
  • Knowledge of vision systems, in-line inspection, or automated quality control equipment.
