Pay: $25 per hour

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial operations of a local growing towing company. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing payroll, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The ideal candidate has experience in small business bookkeeping and is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced service environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Recordkeeping

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and fuel accounts
  • Record daily transactions, including towing revenue and service fees
  • Monitor cash flow and maintain organized financial documentation

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments
  • Generate customer invoices and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Manage lien and impound billing records if applicable
  • Maintain vendor and customer account records

Payroll Administration

  • Process weekly/biweekly payroll for drivers and staff
  • Track hours, overtime, commissions, and on-call pay
  • Ensure payroll tax compliance and timely tax filings
  • Maintain employee records and assist with benefits administration

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
  • Assist with budgeting and expense tracking
  • Support year-end closing and coordinate with CPA or tax preparer
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal tax regulations

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably in a small business environment
  • Experience with payroll processing (required)
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general office software
