Job Summary:
As a Union Machine Operator specializing in Sheet Metal Fabrication, you will play a critical role in setting up, maintaining, and operating machinery to ensure the uninterrupted and efficient running of production. Your attention to detail and adherence to safety standards will be essential to meet our high quality requirements. You will collaborate closely with your co-workers to optimize production workflows.
Shift Options:
First Shift: Monday to Friday, options include:
- 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
- 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Alternative Shift Option: Monday to Thursday from 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up machines (calibration, cleaning, etc.) to start a production cycle.
- Operate machines such as laser, waterjet, punch press, press brake, shear, and forklift.
- Control and adjust machine settings (e.g., speed) to ensure optimal performance.
- Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines and inspect parts with precision measuring tools.
- Test the operation of machines periodically and troubleshoot issues that may arise during the shift.
- Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws and record approved and defective units or final products.
- Maintain activity logs and perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a machine operator.
- Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer, etc.).
- Ability to become certified to operate a forklift in accordance with state regulations.
- Basic computer skills and understanding of production procedures.
- Strong adherence to health and safety regulations, including the use of protective gear.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
- Analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Physical stamina and strength.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus.
- Ability to pass a background and drug test prior to employment.
Working Environment:
Non-climate-controlled setting that may involve physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 30-50 lbs). Casual atmosphere where you can listen to music via one earbud while working.
