Plant Maintenance Technician


Job Summary:

The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and systems to ensure optimal functionality, efficiency, and safety. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, coordinating with production teams, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic).
  • Conduct inspections and diagnostics to identify issues and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS or manual logs.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure maintenance activities support production goals.
  • Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and equipment.
  • Train or guide junior technicians when needed.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or trade certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance or plant operations.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with PLCs, HVAC systems, motors, conveyors, pumps, and valves.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA).
  • Good communication and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Stand, walk, climb, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Work in various environments including noisy, dusty, hot, or cold conditions.
  • Preferred Qualifications (Optional):
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating heavy equipment.
