Batch Plant Operator

 

Job Summary:

The Batch Plant Operator is responsible for the efficient and accurate batching of concrete used in pre-stressed and precast concrete production. This role ensures that concrete mixes meet required specifications and production schedules while maintaining safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor batching equipment to produce concrete according to mix design and production requirements.
  • Ensure proper proportioning of raw materials (cement, aggregates, water, admixtures, etc.) per mix design.
  • Maintain accurate batch records and documentation for quality control and compliance.
  • Coordinate with the Production and Quality Control teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of concrete to casting beds or molds.
  • Inspect materials for quality and report any deviations or issues.
  • Calibrate batching and weighing systems regularly to maintain accuracy.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting of batching equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and report shortages to management.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency, safety, and quality.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience in concrete batching or similar role in a pre-stressed or precast environment.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of concrete mix designs and batching procedures.
  • Familiarity with automated batching systems (e.g., Command Alkon, Marcotte, or similar).
  • Knowledge of quality control and safety standards in concrete production.

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production schedules.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic mechanical and computer skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a plant environment with exposure to dust, noise, and temperature variations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual labor as needed.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or overtime, based on production needs.
