Production Associate
POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Associate supports daily manufacturing operations within a galvanizing facility by preparing, handling, and processing steel materials through the hot-dip galvanizing process. This role involves working in a fast-paced, industrial environment while maintaining safety, quality, and production standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare steel materials for galvanizing by tying, racking, and securing items using wire, chains, or rigging equipment
- Assist with loading and unloading materials onto racks for processing through cleaning and galvanizing tanks
- Operate and inspect equipment such as forklifts, cranes, hoists, and tooling prior to use
- Clean, grind, or finish materials to meet specifications
- Inspect finished products for quality issues such as drips, bare spots, or coating defects
- Remove wires, chains, and excess materials after processing
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Communicate production or quality issues to supervisors
- Assist with training new employees as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial experience preferred
- Experience using hand tools, grinders, or basic equipment preferred
- Ability to operate forklifts or overhead cranes (or willingness to learn)
- Valid driver’s license preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use tools safely
- Strong attention to detail for quality control
- Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures
- Good communication skills
WORKING CONDITIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Work in a non-climate-controlled industrial environment (heat, cold, humidity)
- Exposure to hot materials, chemicals, dust, and industrial equipment
- Ability to stand, bend, climb, and perform physically demanding work
- Willingness to work overtime, extended shifts, and weekends as needed
