Job Title: Structural Concrete Carpenter
Position Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $29-$38/hr
Job Summary
We are seeking a Structural Concrete Carpenter for a well-established construction company to join its field operations team. This role involves performing skilled carpentry work in structural concrete construction, including layout, forming, and stripping concrete elements such as footings and walls. Candidates must be proficient with formwork systems such as Symons Steel-Ply and have a strong understanding of blueprint interpretation and jobsite safety.
Responsibilities
1. Layout & Site Preparation
- Interpret structural drawings and specifications to determine formwork layout.
- Perform layout tasks using levels, transits, lasers, and other tools.
- Set and maintain benchmarks and layout lines for excavations, footings, and wall systems.
2. Footings & Foundations
- Build and install concrete footing forms to specified dimensions and elevations.
- Set keyways, anchor bolts, and embedded structural components as needed.
- Assist with concrete placement and finishing to ensure alignment and quality.
3. Wall Formwork (Symons Panel Systems)
- Assemble and erect Symons Steel-Ply or similar systems per plans and specs.
- Install ties, whalers, strongbacks, and bracing to maintain stability and wall integrity.
- Ensure forms are cleaned, oiled, and aligned before concrete placement.
4. Concrete Pouring & Finishing
- Support concrete placement alongside the crew, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Monitor form pressure, bracing, and alignment during pours.
- Screed, float, and finish surfaces based on structural requirements.
Skills
- Experience in concrete carpentry and formwork systems.
- Proficient with power tools, hand tools, and carpentry equipment.
- Basic math skills essential.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and commitment to safe jobsite practices.
- Fluent in reading and writing English.
- Strong physical condition and ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license required.
