Overview
Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Health Insurance Customer Service Representative to join our client’s team. This position is ideal for someone with a background in medical office work, billing, or reception who enjoys helping others and working in a detail-oriented environment.
As the first point of contact for clients, you'll assist with insurance questions, process paperwork, and support both internal staff and independent agents.
Duties
Responsibilities
- Respond to client inquiries via phone and email regarding coverage, claims, and billing.
- Guide clients through insurance processes, including provider selection and plan education.
- Advocate on behalf of clients with insurance carriers and providers to resolve issues.
- Accurately document all client interactions in CRM systems.
- Educate clients on plan options and support enrollment or renewal processes.
- Stay current on healthcare regulations, insurance plan guidelines, and industry updates.
- Assist internal teams with client inquiries and plan-related questions.
- Prepare client communications and materials as needed.
- Support higher call volumes and extended hours during Open Enrollment.
- Engage in community/networking opportunities outside normal business hours.
- Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of customer service experience; health insurance or medical office experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Empathetic, patient, and professional with all types of clients.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CRM systems.
- Ability to learn and retain complex information quickly.
- Must pass and maintain applicable insurance licensure (Health and Exchange Producer License; training provided).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education a plus.
- Must pass a background check.
