Express Employment Professionals has partnered with a reputable company in the La Crosse area and is currently recruiting for a Prep Chef opportunity! This will be a full-time role located within the company’s cafeteria. Compensation will be based on experience. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for food service and café operations who wants to work in a positive, team-oriented environment.
Shift: Mon-Thur 6am-4:30pm
Pay: $18-$20/hr
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Head Chef in maintaining food stock inventory, including pricing and availability awareness
- Supporting the planning and execution of nutritionally balanced menus
- Coordinating and organizing café supply orders, pick-ups, and inventory management (including stocking grab-and-go coolers, snack racks, and beverage coolers)
- Brewing and delivering coffee services while maintaining coffee equipment
- Preparing and maintaining the salad bar for lunch service, including side salads and specialty dressings
- Baking pastries, cookies, and other fresh items while developing new recipes
- Creating, documenting, and uploading menus weekly (or as needed)
- Assisting with the point-of-sale (POS) system, generating reports, and basic troubleshooting
- Tracking and documenting catering charges, compiling reports, and managing monthly submissions for Accounts Payable
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, dining room, and all food service areas
- Assisting with serving prepared meals, catering events, and preparing for the next day’s meals
- Ensuring compliance with café standard operating procedures, Department of Health standards, and company safety regulations
- Participating in safety training and following company safety policies
- Other duties as assigned
Experience required:
- Education in culinary arts preferred; experience in food service, café operations, or food preparation also preferred
- Strong culinary and baking skills
- Knowledge of food safety and health regulations
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Licenses/Certifications:
- WI ServSafe certification required (must be maintained)
- La Crosse County Restaurant certification required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods, walk, reach, and use hands/arms frequently
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. frequently and up to 40 lbs. occasionally
- Must be flexible to work evenings as needed
