Job Full Description
Position title: Railroad Tie Laborer
Location: Bangor
Shifts/Wage:
- 2nd Shift: $23.00/hour, Monday-Thursday, 2pm-12am
Job Duties:
- Works directly around treated wood
- Responsible for removing 1/4" steel rods from between the layers of treated ties
- Operation of air benders to package up treated ties into truck packs
- Uses a tie pick to space ties that are getting made into air stack bundles
- Applies steel endplates to the ties
- Use of an electric drill and a jug to drill holes in treated ties
- Laying plates and spikes on to the drilled ties in preparation for the next step of the production process
- Setting spikes into the ties using a hammer
- Utilizing a jackhammer to push spikes into the ties to a set height
Job Qualifications:
- HSD or GED preferred
- Ability to sit, stand, twist, bend, crouch, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs throughout shift
- Present a strong work ethic and a stable work history
- Ability to work in the elements, indoors and outdoors
- Previous Lumber Yard experience is preferred, but not required
