  • Forgotten Harvest

The Express Employment Team of Royal Oak supports Forgotten Harvest throughout the year. As an organization dedicated to relieving hunger in Metro Detroit and preventing nutritious food waste, Forgotten Harvest "rescues" over 41 million pounds of food each year. They collect surplus prepared and perishable food from 800 sources, including grocery stores, fruit and vegetable markets, restaurants, caterers, dairies, farmers, wholesale food distributors and other Health Department-approved sources. This donated food, which would otherwise go to waste, is delivered free-of-charge to 280 emergency food providers in the Metro Detroit area.

With a distribution center located in Oak Park, the Express team regularly participates in volunteer food packaging days. By spending 4-8 hours in a day working with the "rescued" food, they package between 2,000 to 4,000 lbs of ready to cook or eat prepared food that will be put in the hands of those who need it most in our community. Below are just a few pictures from our time with them.

  • Children's Miracle Network

Express is a national fundraising partner with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Raising more than $4 million to help save and improve the lives of children throughout North America, our efforts include events at our international leadership conference and sales meetings, as well as local fundraising efforts and golf tournaments. Our ambassadors, the Express Clydesdales, make many special appearances at local events nationwide to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

In our local community, Express Royal Oak partners with Beaumont Children's Hospital with fundraising, volunteer activities and gold outings to help support the great work this Children's Miracle Network Hospital does every day!

Beaumont Children's Hospital is proud to be a member of the Children's Miracle Network - a national alliance of premier hospitals for children. The non-profit organization is dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals across North America.  Each year, the 170 Children's Miracle Network hospitals provide the finest medical care, life-saving research and preventative education to help millions of kids overcome diseases and injuries of every kind. Beaumont has been the only CMN affiliated Children's Miracle Network hospital in Southeast Michigan since 1988.

One of Children's Miracle Network's founding commitments is to keep funds within the community in which they are generated. 100% of the donations raised in Southeast Michigan stay here in our community to fund exceptional pediatric programs and services, vital pediatric equipment and provide treatment scholarships for families unable to afford care.

Beaumont depends on community support to help fund these vital services. Special events and grassroots fund raisers are conducted year-round through a coalition of corporate sponsors, media partners and local businesses working together to ensure healthy kids in our community.  Special events and fundraisers are conducted throughout the year to help kids battle illnesses from asthma and broken bones to cancer, sickle cell anemia, pediatric AIDS and other life-threatening diseases.

The 170 Children's Miracle Network hospitals are there 24 hours a day to help kids of every age and background overcome every imaginable disease and injury. These children's hospitals are also on the front lines of preventing disease and injury through research, education and outreach programs that keep millions of kids out of the hospital each year.
