Summary/Objectives

A brake press operator is responsible for operating and maintaining pem and brake press machines, which are used to bend, form, stamp, and cut metal parts. This may include setting up the machine, adjusting settings, and monitoring the process to ensure the parts meet specifications. The operator may also be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance on the machine and troubleshooting any issues that arise. Additionally, the operator may be responsible for keeping accurate records of production and quality control.

Essential Functions

·       Setting up and adjusting the pem and brake press machine to ensure proper operation.

·       Adjusting machine settings to ensure optimal performance and quality of the final product.

·       Operating the pem and brake press machine to pem, bend, form ,stamp, and cut metal parts according to specifications.

·       Performing periodic quality checks.

·       Troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise during the production process.

·       Performing routine maintenance on the pem and brake press machine to keep it in good working condition.

·       Training other operators on the proper use and maintenance of the equipment, as well as operational functions.

·       Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure machine output meets quality standards and specifications.

·       Maintaining accurate records and documentation of production, including quantity, quality, and time.

·       Adhering to all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

·       Working with other team members to ensure efficient and timely production.

·       Follow department SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures.)

·       Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

·       Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

·       Familiarity with the materials that are being processed.

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

·       Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

·       Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

·       Ability to read a tape measure, calipers, and protractor.

·       Ability to consistently utilize assigned locations i.e., staging lanes, shadow boards.

·       Ability to become forklift certified.

·       Willingness to continuously learn and develop new skills.

Physical Requirements

·       Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully.

·       Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

·       Standing for long periods of time.

·       Repetitive motions.

·       Good hand/eye coordination and dexterity.

·       Lifting and carrying.

·       Endurance.

·       Good vision.

·       Must maintain company machines and tools provided.

·       Wearing personal protective equipment.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to noise, dust, heat, cold, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
