Tooling Machinist I
Position Summary:
Fairfield Company seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tooling Machinist to support the production of high-quality medical equipment components, including surgical robots and interventional carts. This role involves hands-on work with a variety of plastics manufacturing methods and requires a strong background in CNC machining, resin casting, and related fabrication techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support manufacturing and assembly of plastic components using:
- CNC Machining
- Liquid Resin Casting (rigid and elastomeric polyurethane & silicone)
- Pressure Thermoforming
- Commercial Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing)
- Finishing (wet painting & conductive coating)
- Perform repairs and fabricate silicone mold boxes and CNC fixturing to support daily production.
- Assist with engineering tests, continuous improvement initiatives, and new tooling validations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; perform scheduled preventive maintenance on shop equipment.
- Manage time effectively to meet daily production goals.
- Follow all safety protocols and report hazards or equipment issues promptly.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in plastics or aluminum machining (automotive, aerospace, or medical device industries preferred).
- 2+ years of experience reading technical drawings and G-code.
- 1+ years of experience with Mastercam 2024 or similar CAM software.
- Proficient with 3-Axis CNC machines (Fadal preferred) and standard shop tools (e.g., table saw, drill press, lathe).
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime and weekends.
- Fluent in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in regulated industries (ISO 13485, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS 9100 D).
- Familiarity with GD&T and 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks).
- Forklift and/or welding experience.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills
