Job Full Description
Position Summary:
The Precast Fabricator plays a key role in the manufacturing of precast concrete dock modules. This position is responsible for material handling, setting up and preparing concrete forms, installing reinforcement materials, pouring and casting concrete, operating equipment, and performing various fabrication tasks. The role is based in a plant environment and supports the production of high-quality floating dock components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Form Preparation: Assemble, align, and secure concrete forms according to production specifications. Ensure forms are square, level, and ready for casting.
• Foam Cutting: Measure and cut foam billets to required dimensions using hot wire equipment. Stack and organize foam by size and type for use in dock construction.
Concrete Casting:
• Pour concrete into prepared forms to the required depth and finish.
• Install materials such as polystyrene foam, wire mesh, rebar, PVC pipe, and other structural components within the form.
• Use vibrators to eliminate air pockets and ensure proper consolidation of concrete.
Patching & Finishing Support:
• Assist with surface patching, hole filling, and edge finishing using hand tools (trowels, scrapers, etc.).
• Cut control joints and apply joint sealants as needed.
Fabrication & Assembly:
• Operate machines to cut wood, fiberglass, UHMW, and polymer materials.
• Perform boring, slotting, grooving, and sanding of dock components.
• Assemble dock modules by installing structural components including timber beams, hardware, cleats, fenders, and steel frames.
Material Handling & Shipping:
• Operate forklifts and other equipment to safely move and position forms, billets, floats, and other materials.
• Prepare materials for shipping and assist with loading operations.
Tool Operation: Safely and effectively use various hand and power tools throughout the fabrication and assembly process. Compliance & Quality:
• Follow shop drawings and adhere to all company quality standards and procedures.
• Apply workplace safety practices and participate in training related to safety and equipment usage.
Additional Duties: Assist in other areas of the plant or perform related duties as needed to support overall production.
