Job Full Description
We are seeking a California State Certified General Journeyman Electrician to perform electrical installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting across a variety of commercial and industrial projects. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting plans and specifications, laying out conduit systems (underground and in-dock), installing and terminating wiring and electrical distribution equipment, and proactively planning materials and workflows.
Dependability, attention to detail, and strict adherence to safety protocols are essential. This position is subject to random drug testing in compliance with our Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret electrical plans and specifications.
- Plan project layouts and order necessary materials.
- Receive, inventory, and organize materials on-site.
- Install electrical conduits, cables, transformers, distribution panels, and power pedestals.
- Operate power tools to drill, cut, or modify concrete, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, fiberglass, and plastic materials.
- Troubleshoot and test electrical systems for issues such as shorts, faults, or low voltage.
- Install and troubleshoot kilowatt-hour meters.
- Use common electrical testing equipment (meggers, ammeters, voltmeters, ohm meters, circuit tracers, telephone test sets, toners, and power quality analyzers).
- Properly connect single-phase and three-phase transformers, including making voltage tap adjustments.
- Travel to job sites across the division’s service area as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Valid California State General Journeyman Electrician Certification (Required)
- Proven experience in commercial/industrial electrical systems
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
- Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to workplace safety and compliance
- Willingness and ability to travel for work within California
- Clean driving record
