Job Summary
The Molding Production Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining injection molding equipment to produce high-quality molded products in a safe and efficient manufacturing environment. This role ensures production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
- Perform mold changes, machine adjustments, and process troubleshooting as needed.
- Inspect molded parts to ensure compliance with quality specifications and customer requirements.
- Record production data, machine parameters, and quality inspection results accurately.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions, process deviations, and quality concerns.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic machine troubleshooting.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S principles.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve quality.
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Assist in training new operators on production processes and safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in injection molding, plastics manufacturing, or a production environment preferred.
- Knowledge of molding processes, machine operation, and quality inspection techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, production schedules, and quality documentation.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced manufacturing facility.
- Rotating shifts, overtime, and weekend work may be required based on production demands.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with scientific molding principles.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of SAP, MES, or other production tracking systems.
- Forklift and crane operation experience is a plus.
