Maintenance Mechanic
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of manufacturing and packaging equipment in a fast-paced production environment. This position is responsible for troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring equipment reliability to minimize downtime and support production goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on production and packaging equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, compressors, and related machinery.
- Inspect equipment to identify wear, safety concerns, and potential failures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Complete work orders, maintenance logs, and inspection reports accurately.
- Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
- Collaborate with production personnel to maximize equipment efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Follow all company safety procedures, GMP standards, and maintenance best practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and conveyors.
- Experience troubleshooting manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Basic welding, fabrication, and machining skills preferred.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Understanding of preventative maintenance programs and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work around moving machinery and in varying production environments.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and emergency call-ins as needed.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in a food-grade manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of automated production equipment.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
