Maintenance Supervisor
Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the Maintenance Department in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role supervises maintenance personnel, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance activities, ensures equipment reliability, and promotes a culture of safety, food quality, and continuous improvement. The Maintenance Supervisor provides leadership, training, and technical support to ensure plant operations are maintained efficiently and effectively.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the maintenance team with a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset, identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance processes, productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support and actively participate in all plant safety initiatives, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, machine guarding, and Process Safety Management (PSM)/Ammonia Safety programs.
- Supervise, schedule, assign, and prioritize maintenance work orders to ensure timely and effective completion of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Monitor maintenance staffing and schedules to ensure adequate coverage for plant operations while minimizing downtime and overtime costs.
- Provide leadership, coaching, training, and performance feedback to maintenance technicians and apprenticeship team members.
- Ensure preventive maintenance activities generated through the CMMS system are completed accurately, on time, and according to established standards.
- Assist with troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated production equipment.
- Oversee maintenance projects, equipment upgrades, and facility improvements to support operational goals.
- Collaborate with the Parts Department to establish and maintain appropriate inventory levels for critical spare parts and maintenance supplies.
- Complete and review reports related to equipment performance, maintenance metrics, downtime, and team productivity.
- Maintain a working knowledge of plant processing systems, utilities, packaging equipment, and facility operations.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Support food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance programs throughout the facility.
- Maintain professional standards of conduct, attendance, appearance, and accountability.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a food manufacturing or production environment.
- Previous supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment-related issues efficiently.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Food manufacturing experience.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, and industrial electrical systems.
- Knowledge of food safety requirements, GMPs, and regulatory compliance.
- Technical training, trade certification, or related education.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in manufacturing environments for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and around operating production equipment.
