Composites Molding Technician
Position Summary
The Composites Molding Technician is responsible for manufacturing high-quality composite components using established molding processes, work instructions, and safety procedures. This position requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively in a production environment while maintaining strict quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate composite molding equipment and related production tools.
- Prepare molds, materials, tooling, and equipment for production.
- Perform layup, material placement, vacuum bagging, and other composite manufacturing processes as required.
- Load and unload molds and production equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor molding processes to ensure parts meet established specifications and quality requirements.
- Follow work instructions, drawings, specifications, and standard operating procedures.
- Inspect finished components for defects, dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and workmanship.
- Identify and report production, tooling, material, or quality issues.
- Perform basic equipment and tooling maintenance and housekeeping.
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
- Use hand tools, measuring equipment, and production machinery as required.
- Follow all company safety, environmental, and quality policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Work collaboratively with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and other production departments.
- Meet established production schedules and productivity requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous manufacturing, composites, aerospace, automotive, or industrial production experience preferred.
- Experience with composite materials or molding processes is a plus.
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions and manufacturing documentation.
- Basic mechanical and mathematical skills.
- Ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment as required.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Ability to perform repetitive movements and work in various positions around molds and production equipment.
Work Environment
This position works in a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature variations, and industrial equipment. Proper personal protective equipment and safety procedures must be followed at all times.
