Job Full Description

  • The Lab Technician is responsible for performing routine laboratory testing, sampling, and analysis of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. The Lab Technician assists in maintaining accurate records, calibrating laboratory equipment, and supporting investigations into product quality issues. This role plays a key part in ensuring product safety, consistency, and compliance with company and industry standards.

    Essential Functions

    · Testing & Analysis

    · Conduct routine physical and chemical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.

    · Approve or reject raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods based on laboratory test results, within defined limits.

    · Quarantine materials that fail to meet quality standards until further review.

    · Accurately record and analyze test results in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.

    · Laboratory Equipment & Documentation

    · Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment (e.g., balances, pH meters, spectrophotometers).

    · Document test results in data systems accurately and promptly.

    · Assist in maintaining laboratory supplies, reagents, and inventory.

    · Quality & Compliance

    · Ensure testing procedures follow established SOPs, GMP, ISO, and regulatory requirements.

    · Support quality investigations and assist in identifying root causes of product deviations or failures.

    · Maintain proper safety practices, PPE use, and housekeeping within the laboratory.

    · Teamwork & Communication

    · Work collaboratively with production, warehouse, and administrative teams to support operations.

    · Report test results, deviations, or out-of-specification findings to the Quality Manager.

    · Assist in training new lab staff or production employees on basic testing and sampling procedures as required.

    Qualifications

    · High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related scientific field preferred.

    · 1–3 years of experience in a laboratory or quality control environment preferred.

    · Knowledge of laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and safety procedures.

    · Familiarity with GMP, ISO, or other quality standards in manufacturing preferred.

    · Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and organizational skills.

    · Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; proficiency in laboratory data systems preferred.

    · Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

    Work Environment

    · Laboratory environment with regular exposure to chemicals, reagents, and laboratory equipment, with requirement of appropriate PPE.

    · Manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, noise, and moving equipment.

    · Manufacturing environment requires use of PPE:

    · Required – safety goggles, bump cap, chemical resistant steel toe shoes.

    · As required by SOPs – gloves, protective clothing, respirator.

    · Shift work, overtime, and weekend work may be required depending on production needs.

    · Environment can be dusty and have varying temperature swings of hot and cold.
