Shipping Assistant
Burbank, CA
Full time – Temp to hire
Monday thru Friday – 7am to 3:30pm
$20hr to start.
Busy FAA Certified Engineering, Manufacturing and repair company in Glendale specializing in hydraulic component maintenance for aviation OEM's and distributors worldwide is looking for a Shipping Assistant to join their team.
Summary: In this position you will be responsible for preparing outgoing shipments and all required accompanying paperwork.
Responsibilities:
- Operates various shipping equipment and programs (i.e., UPS, FedEx, etc.)
- Enters data into mainframe computer system.
- Interfaces with quality assurance and other distribution personnel.
- Enter required data into carrier system. (Ups, FedEx, and DHL)
- Complete manual airway bill or bill of landing form as necessary.
- Calls courier to schedule pick up for trucking and/or daily carriers.
- Interfaces with accounting on held orders, credit card issues, etc.
- Completes US Government required Shipper's Export Declaration for all export shipments.
- Back up order picking activities.
- Assumes responsibility on government contracts orders on packaging operations.
- Interfaces with window customer pickups.
- Assists sales rep on FOB charges
- Interfaces with the Export Compliance Dept. on export shipments
- Assumes responsibility on AOG service.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read and interpret English language.
- Must be able to read and comprehend written instruction.
- Additional documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals as required.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Is frequently required to talk or listen.
- Works in moderate noise levels.
