Manufacturing Engineer Intern
Burbank, CA
Full time – Temp to hire
Monday thru Friday – 5am to 1:30pm
$19hr to $22hr depending on experience
High end manufacturing company producing precision, quality aerospace fasteners is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join their team in Burbank.
Summary: The Manufacturing Engineering Intern supports the production team by learning and assisting in all aspects of the manufacturing process. The intern works under the supervision of the engineering manager to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product and process quality. This often involves data collection, documentation, and quality control.
Responsibilities:
- Implement continuous improvement projects to optimize production processes.
- Participating in product and process quality checks, testing, and data collection.
- Preparing product and process documentation, updating manufacturing work instructions, and maintaining engineering databases.
- Assisting with the transition of new product designs into manufacturing and developing assembly procedures and tooling.
- Implementing cost-saving measures through continuous improvement projects.
- Working with cross-functional teams, participating in meetings, and communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Identifying and resolving issues related to manufacturing processes, equipment, and product quality.
- Assisting in the improvement of tool life.
- Developing and implementing training materials, such as visual work instructions, to support manufacturing processes.
- Analyzing data to identify areas for improvement and track key performance indicators.
- Creating and modifying 3D models and designs using CAD, and Solid Work software.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in mechanical, aerospace or industrial engineering.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel of at least an intermediate level / Database.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
