Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Glendale, CA

Full time - Temp to hire.

Monday thru Friday – 6:30am to 3pm

$18.50hr to $19hr depending on experience

Busy production shop specializing in micro abrasive sandblasting equipment and services is looking for a Shipping and Receiving Clerk to join their team in Glendale.

Summary: The shipping and receiving clerk position verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Operates forklift, lift trucks or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas.
  • Evaluates incoming packages for suspicious or conceal damages. If packages are damaged, items must be receive with an exception document and report to the Production Manager for a proper inspection.
  • Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to Quality and Production Manager.
  • Unpack none damage items or packages and route them to the proper departments.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Completes incoming inspection, confirmation of certificate of conformance and reconciliation of receiving/purchase documentation.
  • Notifies and/or delivers incoming product to end user.
  • Completes daily receiving entries in computer system. Distributes to purchasing office for filing.
  • Responsible for managing all outbound shipments, management of packaging materials inventories, packaging of product to be shipped, and arrangement of transportation services. UPS/FedEx/DHL software is to be used effectively and understood for summary reporting on request.
  • Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods.
  • Responsible for making arrangements for pick up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order, which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions.
  • Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a high school education and two year of factory-related experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math.
  • A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Licensed forklift truck operator.

Basic Computer Literacy.
