FACILITIES MANAGER
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Express is recruiting for a full-time Facilities Manager for a well-established, family-owned agricultural business in Northern California. The company farms thousands of acres in Yuba and Sutter Counties, specializing in almonds, walnuts, prunes, and melons. They manage their own crops and provide farm management and custom farming services. This position will be a hands-on contributor.
JOB OVERVIEW
As a Facilities Manager, you will assist in farm management activities, operate and maintain prune drying/walnut hulling and drying facilities, and help maintain and implement safety and food safety programs. This role is essential to ensuring products meet quality standards and production timelines.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Operate and monitor walnut hulling/drying and prune drying equipment
- Assist in farm management as needed
- Inspect prunes/walnuts for quality before and after processing
- Coordinate with harvesting crews
- Coordinate the shipping of finished products
- Supervise basic maintenance and cleaning of machinery
- Supervise facilities maintenance and repairs during the off-season
- Troubleshoot equipment issues
- Ensure safety and food safety guidelines and protocols are followed
- Track production data and equipment performance
- Conduct audits with third parties as necessary
- Assist with other harvest-related tasks and shop operations as needed
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Prior experience in agriculture or food processing
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial equipment
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor environments
- Computer skills to operate drying/shipping software (WECO)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
SCHEDULE
This is a full-time, year-round position with an average 40-hour work week, increasing to up to 60 hours per week from August to November depending on demand. Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed is required.
