Schedule: 2–3 hours, one day per week
Pay Rate: $35–$38 per hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and patient Piano Instructor to support a unique hearing health initiative designed for individuals with hearing loss. This program is based on research indicating that learning a musical instrument can help improve speech recognition and auditory processing, particularly in challenging listening environments.
The instructor will work with adult participants in a supportive, low-pressure setting, using piano instruction as a tool to enhance auditory engagement, listening focus, and cognitive connection to sound.
Responsibilities
• Provide beginner-level piano instruction to individuals with hearing loss
• Create a welcoming and encouraging learning environment tailored to varying hearing abilities
• Adapt teaching methods to support auditory training, rhythm recognition, and sound differentiation
• Collaborate with clinical staff to align instruction with hearing health goals
• Track participation and provide basic progress feedback as needed
Qualifications
• Experience teaching piano to beginners and/or adults
• Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic teaching style
• Comfort working with individuals with hearing loss or willingness to learn
• Basic understanding of music theory and rhythm-based instruction
• Background in music education, piano performance, or related field preferred
