We are hiring an experienced and dependable Farm Manager to lead day-to-day operations for a well-established, family-run rice farm managing approximately 1,800 acres. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, leading a team, and being a key part of a growing operation transitioning into a more structured environment.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee all aspects of rice production from planting through harvest
- Lead and manage farm staff, ensuring productivity and accountability
- Coordinate irrigation, water management, and field schedules
- Manage herbicide, fertilizer, and crop treatment applications
- Maintain and troubleshoot farm equipment; coordinate repairs
- Monitor crop health and field conditions
- Ensure timely planting, cultivation, and harvest operations
- Help improve overall farm efficiency and processes
Schedule & Work Environment
This role follows a seasonal schedule with varying hours throughout the year:
Planting Season (Mid-May – July):
- Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Weekends: 4–6 hours/day
- Overtime required
Harvest Season (Approx. 30 days in September):
- 7 days/week
- 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Off Season (Fall/Winter):
- Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Occasional on-call for irrigation or equipment needs
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- Experience managing teams in an agricultural or farm setting
- Strong mechanical skills and equipment maintenance experience
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, fertilization, and herbicide application
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to long-term employment
- Self-starter with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset
Preferred:
- Rice farming experience strongly preferred (other crop experience considered)
- Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons
