Job Summary
A local credit union is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support its Asset Recovery Department. This role is responsible for preparing daily and month-end financial reports related to delinquent loans, recoveries, charge-offs, and asset recovery activities. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, enjoys working with numbers, and is committed to maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in a financial services environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and month-end reports for delinquency and asset recovery activities.
- Reconcile recovery transactions and ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.
- Track loan recoveries, charge-offs, repossessions, and related accounting entries.
- Assist with balancing general ledger accounts and supporting month-end closing processes.
- Monitor delinquency trends and compile reports for management review.
- Research and resolve discrepancies related to recovery transactions.
- Maintain accurate records while ensuring compliance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with audits by gathering documentation and preparing requested reports.
- Collaborate with the Collections, Accounting, and Finance teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- 1–3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, banking, or financial services experience preferred.
- Experience preparing financial reports and month-end reconciliations.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and data analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in a credit union or banking environment is highly preferred.
