DRIVER

 

 

  • JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

 

  • The basic function of the driver is to operate several types of trucks/equipment.
  • Main duty would be operating a roll-off container truck.

 

 

 

  • REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

 

  • The driver reports to and is directly accountable to the Equipment Manger.

 

 

  • REQUIREMENTS

 

3.1       Education

 

  • Required: High School Diploma.

 

  • Licensing / Registration / Certification

 

  • Valid CDL Class A and/or Class B Drivers License with clean driving record.

 

  • Experience
  • Required:
  • Preferred: At least 1 year of construction experience.

 

  • Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

 

  • Position requires the ability to follow instructions and operate a variety of related equipment.
  • The skills to judge distance and slopes accurately and make decisions based on verifiable standards.

 

 

  • Physical Requirements

 

  • The employee must be able to stoop, bend, and crouch.
  • Must be able to use hands, arms, and legs fully.
  • Must be able to see well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

 

  • Mental

 

  • Must be able to communicate, read and write in English.

 

  • WORKING CONDITIONS

 

 

  • Work will be performed mostly outdoors. Workdays will vary depending on weather conditions. There may be days when overtime in needed. Ajax pays time and a half for all hours worked over 40 hours in a week.
  • Normal workday will be from 7:30am – 4:00pm.

 

 

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Operate various types of construction related trucks.
  • Deliver material & equipment to various locations.
  • Must be punctual.
  • Assist warehouse crews when not driving/delivering.

 

  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Complete equipment maintenance checklist beginning each day and prior to each trip.
  • Maintain accurate and legible mileage log for vehicles operated.
  • Complete all required delivery forms and turn in to equipment manager each day.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions and/or problems to equipment manager.
  • Clean vehicles each week.
  • Be at work on time every workday.

 

  • MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE

 

  • Completes checklist for all trips made on a daily basis.
  • Maintains accurate and legible mileage logs for each vehicle.
  • Completes and turns in all delivery forms to equipment manager on a daily basis.
  • Reports any and all equipment malfunctions immediately to equipment manager.
  • Cleans vehicles on a weekly basis.
  • Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality.
