Custodian/Facilities Tech (18-20/hr to start)
Job Overview
The Custodian supports a safe, clean, and orderly work environment at an Alachua manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for sanitation, general housekeeping, and routine facilities maintenance to ensure the health and safety of all building occupants. Duties include cleaning indoor areas, maintaining outdoor spaces, and following established procedures aligned with company safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain assigned areas to meet Facilities standards and expectations.
- Perform tasks such as mopping floors, cleaning windows, wiping tables, cleaning restrooms, vacuuming, emptying trash, and replenishing supplies.
- Maintain a trash and recycling removal schedule consistent with local pickup times.
- Replace air filters and conduct minor upkeep tasks as directed.
- Clean up spills and ensure surfaces are sanitized to maintain workplace hygiene.
- Follow established cleaning procedures to support a safe work environment, including OSHA and company regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas such as walkways, green spaces, and building exterior surfaces (mowing, trimming, pressure washing, etc.).
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively
- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Facilities Manager promptly.
Education & Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Previous custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance experience.
- Ability to operate custodial tools and equipment, including strip/wax/buff equipment
- Able to lift/walk/stand/bend with up to 50 pounds, able to work outdoors and in non-climate controlled spaces
Position will work Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm and offer opportunity for permanent hire and comprehensive benefits.
